Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2016 Nissan Frontier- Video

Today on this 2016 Nissan Frontier, we're going to be test fitting the Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Mounted Load Extender, Part Number DTA944. Now, this is an extender for both your roof and your truck bed. Right now, we have it in the upright position and it does have adjustments here to adjust to varying truck heights and cab heights. If your truck here had, say, a roof rack attached to it, and you wanted to have an extra long extension, say, for ladders or kayaks or what have you, you can raise this up higher to accommodate that. This can carry anything from lumbar to a conduit pipe to even a kayak or a stand-up paddle board if you wanted to. There's 2 tie-downs on each side here, which you can use bungee cords, straps, other things that you can find on etrailer.com. How it actually attaches, it comes with 2 pin and clips, 1 for the top here and 1 to actually attach to the hitch at the bottom. I'm going to go ahead and give you some measurements here. more

Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2011 Ford F-150- Video

Today in our 2011, Ford F-150 we are doing a test fit of the Darby Extend-A-Truck hitch mounted load extender. That part number is DTA944. Now we already have it here in our first position. We will show you our second position and take a few measurements and then also explain more as to what you can put on our extender. Now, here in this position it's going to be great if you plan on carrying anything on the cab of your truck or maybe you have crossbars and the load is a little longer. So say you have PVC pipe or lumber or even a large kayak or boat; you could stick that on the top. We have these nice tie downs here on either side to secure with any straps that you may have. Now, on our T-point here we actually have different spots where you can mount our Extend-A-Truck so if you do have those crossbars and they're a little higher than your cab you can always lift it up or lower it wherever you need to. Now, in this position we will take a few measurements. Overall, to our truck we are adding about 8 inches there. Our closest point is going to be about 5 3/4 inches between the two. And then our ground clearance down here.we're going to have about 17 inches. Now to put this into our second position; we'll first need to remove this T-piece here by removing the pin and clip. You can lift that off and set it off to the side. Then we will take our bottom piece and remove this pin and clip as well and switch that around. So we've got that switched into place. We'll just line up our pin holes. Reinsert one of our pins here. Now whenever you do purchase your load extender, it does come with both of your pins and clips. One for your hitch and one for your other piece. And then if we lower our tailgate here, we will be able to line up our T-piece with that. It looks like we're going to be on the last spot here. We'll replace our clip. And we're ready to go. So here we can load up anything that we need on our truck bed that again is longer, again like your PVC pipe or lumber. You can use those tie-downs once again. Now if we take a few measurements to figure out the distance between the tailgate and our Extend-A-Truck; we are going to have about 28 1/4 inches there. Adding to our actual truck; we are adding about 49 1/2 inches. So there is some regulation with Department of Transportation where you may have to put a red or orange flag on the back. more

Topline Truck Bed Extender Installation - 2008 Toyota Tundra- Video

Today on our 2008 Toyota Tundra, we're going to review an install, the Top Line Bed Extender, part number BX4004-01. Here's what our bed extender look like once installed. What's really nice about the bed extender, especially on these short bed pickups is that it adds approximately 2 feet extension onto our pickup bed. Additionally, when it's not in use, it can simply be folded up as the clamps will secure the sides to the main body and then it folds down where the clamps will hold it to the brace. We can simply just close our tailgate and it's stored inside the pickup bed, or we have a situation where we need the entire length of our tailgate without the bed extender, we can pull the pin, which has a nice detent on it to keep it in place. We pull it out of the bracket on both sides and we completely remove our bed extender, opening our tailgate back up. Now, let's go ahead and show you how to install it. Now, to begin our install, we're going to open the tailgate. more

Darby Extend A Truck Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500- Video

Today on our 2015 Chevrolet Silverado Crewcab, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Darby Extend-A-Truck hitch-mounted load extender. This is going to be part number DTA944. As you can see, it's going to be fully adjustable, 1-1/2" each pin hole, so a total of 9-1/2" in either direction. We can drop it down to meet up with the lower headache rack or up above to meet up with our roof rack that you see on there now, or it will collapse. This part, you'll collapse it down and then reverse it, and it will actually extend out on the outside so you can put down your tailgate and extend your load outwards if you want to keep it all in the bed of your truck. We'll go through how all of that works, but we wanted to show you how the ladder looks up on top and always make sure that you secure it down using your straps or ties or rope or whatever, what have you. Topline Fold Down Truck Bed Expander Review- Video

Today we're going to review an install, the Top Line fold down truck bed extender, part number BX4004-02. Black in color. This application is also available in silver, part number BX4004-01. Let's go ahead and take a look at the top line tailgate extender that's all ready been installed. Simply open up the tailgate, we'll pick the extender up and swing the arm out and lock it in place. The arm is secured to the extender with the clamp, we pull it free, lift up on the spring-loaded button and it locks in to place. Just like that, our tailgate extender is up and secured. To get an idea, we'll go ahead and take a measurement from the end of the pickup bed to the inside edge here on the corner. more

Today on our 2015 Ram 2500, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Darby Extend-A-Truck. This is going to be the item that's going to allow it to come out and away from the vehicle if you want to store anything off your receiver hitch, like long lumber or anything like that, or come up and above out of your receiver hitch to lay out lumber over the top. We'll show you how that goes on, and you can use it for many different applications. This will be part number DTA944. Go ahead and get it fitted onto our truck. Insert your shank into your receiver and line up your pinholes. Now once you have your pinholes lined up, insert your hitch pin and clip. more

Darby Extend A Truck Hitch Cargo Carrier Review - 2012 Ram 1500- Video

Today on our 2012 Ram 1500 we're going to be a doing a test fit of the Darby Extend-A-Truck. It's going to be part number DTA944. This will be for your 2 inch hitches, and Class 3 hitches only. Let's go ahead and place it into the 2 inch receiver that we have here today. Now, if you have a ladder rack, or a headache rack on your vehicle, and you'd like to place something longer in the bed of your truck, and keep the inside of your bed open, this would be a perfect opportunity to do so, whether that be lumber, or anything else. Let's go ahead and line up our pinholes, and place in our hitch pin and clip. Now with our hitch pin and clip inserted you will see that this is adjustable at the top to meet multiple different heights depending on your cab and your headache rack, or ladder rack height. Simply pull the pin, lift and lower it to meet up with the pin holes. more

Today on our 2007 Dodge Ram we're going to be doing a test fit of the Darby Extend-a-Truck. This is going to be a steel tube construction with a 2" shank for your 2" hitches. It's going to be part number DTA944. If you looked at it it's going to be adjustable, fully adjustable to where you need it, and it's going to come with two hitch pins and two clips so you can adjust it to wherever you want it. We'll go ahead and put it on our vehicle that we have here today. Go ahead and insert that shank into your receiver. The nice thing about this project is it's going to be handy for anybody that's a contractor or even your do-it-yourselfers. more

Today we're going to be taking a look at the hitch mounted Darby Extend-A-Truck. This is part number DTA944. This is an extension designed to fit into your class 3, 2 x 2" hitches and it's made to extend in this case, the way we've got it configured, your roof rack height, so whether it's an SUV, a pickup truck, you're going to be able to extend either to the third or make this your second connection point. It's going to extend from our hitch pin hole back to the face here 9" to give us 9" of extra length. If we use it in the bed height position, it's actually going to add all the way up to 49". That's again from the center of that hitch pin hole. more

Thule Goalpost Hitch Mounted Load Bar Review- Video

Today we'll be reviewing the Thule Goal Post hitch mounted load bar part number TH997. This goal post provides a front or rear mounted load bar that works with a 2 inch hitch receiver and allows you to carry loads longer than your truck bed. It can easily be adjusted to fit different heights and includes 2 load stabs to provide lateral load support. We'll start of our review by assembling and installing it on to the vehicle. We'll first take the goal post stinger and slide it into the receiver tube of our hitch. We'll then line up the pin holes and thread our anti rattle bolt through the pin holes tightening it with a wrench. There is a built in anti wobble mechanism that keeps the goal post snug in the receiver for stability and to reduce noise and vibration. more

Topline Truck Bed Extender Installation - 2010 GMC Sierra- Video

Today on our 2010 GMC Sierra we'll be installing Topline fold down truck bed extender, part number BX4004-01. First note that this vehicle has a tailgate cover. We'll need to remove the cover and locate the position for our bed extender. Let's go ahead and remove the fasteners and sit the cover aside. Now we'll go ahead and sit the bed extender up on the tailgate. We'll need to locate a flat surface for our SS brackets or stainless steel brackets to sit which will be our attachment points for the bed extender. more
